Madalitso Band, Traditional Malawian Music

Find Foreign Music is proud to announce that we are now representing the incredible music of Mawalian Madalitso Band. The band plays a babatoni, a homemade instrument which is very popular in Malawi, and the four-string guitar, creating the traditional Malawi banjo sound. The last few years they've gone from playing on the streets of Lilongwe to major festivals all over the world.

FFM is proud to represent Mustafa Said

Mustafa Said is an Egyptian singer, musicologist, composer and a virtuoso Oud player. He has been living in Beirut since 2004. He is one of the few young talents to devote his career to the classical Arabic repertoire while exploring new forms and new sounds. Former professor at the House of Oud (Cairo), he extends his musical approach from the already existent musical traditions of the east Mediterranean region with the spirit of the two previous musical renaissances: that of the golden age of Abbasid music, and that of the second half of the 19th century. Inspired by the oriental traditional heritage, the compositions and forms of interpretation of Mustafa Said offer a very contemporary approach and place great emphasis on the instrumental and vocal improvisation.

The Hammered Dulcimer of Max ZT

Lauded as the “Jimi Hendrix of Hammered Dulcimer” by NPR, and "A Force of nature” Max ZT is an innovator of the instrument. Taking his roots from Irish and American folk music, Max has transplanted his compositional techniques to both Senegal, where he studied the Mandinko technique with the Cissoko griot family, and to India, where he received the prestigious AIIS grant to study under the great santoor master Pandit Shivkumar Sharma. His fresh perspective and bold experimentalism have been the backbone to beautiful, complex, and genuine compositions, while his unorthodox playing style has been a pioneering force in revolutionizing dulcimer techniques.
